Pitch Construction and Renovation at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti

From 2018 to 2022, the FLexGrass team was involved in the complete construction and renovation of the pitches at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti, the training ground of FC Internazionale Milano.

The partnership began in 2018 with the complete construction of two football pitches built on a single foundation slab.

In the following years, playing surface regeneration works were carried out, particularly for the Primavera youth squad, before moving on, in 2020, to replacing the turf with the Horizon hybrid turf system.

In 2022, the project at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti involved the goalkeepers' pitch and the grandstand pitch: both pitches underwent a complete reconstruction, with works carried out from the base up to the new turf surface — namely a Vertix hybrid turf, a natural pitch reinforced with vertically stitched synthetic fibres.

This latest intervention was carried out over a total surface area of 10,880 m² and completed on schedule, within the planned 58-day works programme.

The works carried out were as follows:

1. excavation of the ground to a depth of approximately 40 centimetres;
2. sub-base consolidation;
3. installation of a new drainage system;
4. installation of the new undersoil heating system;
5. installation of the new irrigation system;
6. laying of the new natural turf in sod (turf rolls);
7. surface reinforcement through the Vertix stitching system;
8. construction of the new perimeter areas in synthetic turf.

Thanks to the combination of sub-base works, new natural turf and Vertix hybrid reinforcement, the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti now boasts cutting-edge professional pitches, worthy of the Milanese club's prestige.
